Summary
Over the summer we all had to work 60 hours as an intern somewhere. I worked at Sturdevant Refrigeration & Air Conditioning working with sheet metal to make a variety of different air duct systems. I also got some time servicing and repairing air conditioners at homes and businesses. In senior seminar this year we had to make a slideshow to present to our class to tell and show them what we did.
21st Century
A 21st Century Skill that I feel was used for this assignment was Self-Directional Skills. I say this because it was up to me to find an internship I wanted to do and I had to get an interview for the spot. Once I had the internship I had to find out my own free time that I could put to the internship and show up to get the 60 hours I needed. No one there would tell me when to come or exactly what to do all the time so I had to show up on my time and make sure I got my hours and would have to be involved at times to get experience. If I wanted to I could've not shown up or done as much work and called it a day.
Reflection
I'm proud of myself for completing this internship and learning all of the things that I did and I'm also thankful for all the people I got to work with over summer. Everyone there had a super good attitude and felt like they wanted or were happy to work there so it made the work environment very nice to work in. Everyone I worked with were super cool to just talk story with on break and while working whenever I had any question they were there to help and teach me.
It did get difficult at times just working 8 hours outside in summer heat working on an ac or bending the same piece of metal over and over again in the shop. Also getting all that fiberglass all over my skin did not feel good. I'm glad I got to intern here for the summer and this could possibly lead into a job after high school because I enjoyed the work and people there and I want to learn how to weld and more about servicing and repairing ACs and I could see myself working there in the future as an apprentice.
