Summary
This was our longest and the final project of Quarter one Marine Science. We started by doing a lab with sea shells where we put them in acidic liquids and took notes on it. Then we had to take that data and notes from class to write a research essay on ocean acidification and the importance of phytoplankton with a solution to the problem. The final product was in the form of a google slideshow that we presented to our class.
21st Century
A 21st Century Skill that I feel was used for this assignment was Information Skills. I had to use many tools to research, write, and present my project. I used information from class, a lab experiment with the shells then a lot of online research just to write my essay. I then had to take all of this information confine it to 5 simple slides and present it to my class making it simple and understandable in a 3-5 minute presentation.
Reflection
I'm very proud of myself when it came to this assignment because I got the essay complete with around 1000 words. I also made my presentation very neat and presented it well to get an A on it. This was also a partner project but I had to do the slideshow and presentation all by myself.
It was difficult to do all of that research and present on my own but it was a good challenge and I got it done with an A so it wasn't that bad.
If I could do this again I would definitely want to put more effort into my essay. My essay had a lot of research on the problem but the solution in my essay was not good and lacked a lot of evidence to back it up. So if I could redo the solution and make it stronger that would be nice.
